ZSL London Tiger Territory

Working in collaboration with Peak Contractors and Wharmby Kozdon Architects, we were called in to help ZSL London create an enclosure that was “all about the tigers”, named Jae Jae and Melati.

The dedicated tiger team wanted trees for the animals to climb for exercise and platforms for rest. The zoo wanted the tigers to mate so the design brief demanded platforms that could take the adult animals’ weight but without potential paw traps for cubs.

We were pleased to work closely with ZSL London to design and build this series of habitat structures with material sourced from our sustainably managed forest in Oxford.

We hope to work more with ZSL London. Although we love those tiger feet, perhaps they’ll let us near the apes next time!
