Waltham Forest Parklets
Following the success of our Barnet Parklet project in the Summer, APES have been busy once again building and installing 3 brand-new Parklets for Waltham Forest council! All in collaboration with the fantastic Erect Architecture.
Each one individually designed and completely unique in nature, we utilised as many recycled materials as possible…
The timberwork we used across all 3 builds was made from recycled Jarrah sleepers; We milled them into planks and pre-cut everything at our workshop in Cody Dock, ready for installation at sites across Walthamstow and Leytonstone.
The Parklet outside Stone Mini Market was fabricated and assembled solely by our awesome team of engineers at the workshop, before all the various pieces came together on-site. The planters were fully manufactured at our workshop, lined with repurposed bulk bags, and then filled and planted on-site too.
The drainage element of all the planters is made from recycled incinerator ash - small stone balls which hold just the perfect amount of water to facilitate the growth of our hardy street-side plants!
Outside Froth & Rind, we installed a recycled Jarrah pergola, intertwined with our beautiful Stag Oak trellis. Stag Oak is dead timber which we pick from our local forests, before processing them at our workshop and fitting them together like a puzzle on-site. This is designed for the Jasmine plants to climb and encapsulate diners who will be eating inside the Parklet.
You can find each of our three Parklets just outside of these establishments:
