Barnet Parklets

This Summer, APES have been busy building and installing 12 new parklets for Barnet, increasing public space for high street goers to enjoy the local food and take a rest!

In collaboration with Erect Architecture, (using as many recycled materials as possible), we designed and built different style parklets that incorporate relaxed seating with wheelchair access, and even mini-staged areas for buskers and street performers.

The timber work we used has been recycled from Southampton docks (British Rail), the planters are made from recycled plastic and the drainage element is recycled incinerator ash.

You can check them out in these places:

Golders Green Town Centre, Golders Green Rd
Outside the following businesses:
Pita, Novellino Bistro, Hosh Restuarant, Hummus Bar, Florentine

Mill Hill Town Centre, The Broadway
Outside the following businesses:
Cafe Broadway, Bluebells, Simple Coffee

Burnt Oak Town Centre, Watling Avenue
There are three more playful versions.

We’re pleased to say that we’ve already had lots of interest from other councils so watch this space…
