“APES knows play and play equipment. It understands the vision and ideas of play workers, and is able to put them into practice” Evergreen Play Association
APES offers the whole package. We use our expertise to consult, design, landscape and build revolutionary play structures that are perfectly tailored to your needs. We prioritise projects with the best interests of local people at heart, and use natural materials to create free outdoor play spaces for children and families. We are committed to five principles: an eco-friendly approach, unique design, children’s involvement, community development and evolution. See ethos for more information.
“Imagine a play space designed to enhance its setting, a space close to nature where disabled and non-disabled children of all ages can challenge themselves as they play together. A space that is loved by the whole community and is environmentally sustainable. That’s what we are always striving to achieve.”
John O’Driscoll, Director, Adventure Playground Engineers
APES understands how to design and build the perfect play space. Our playgrounds are safe but challenging for children and young people, enhancing their physical and emotional development close to home. We use recycled and ethically sourced material, and work beside residents and clients to develop unique site-specific designs. No project is too big or small, and we love a challenge.
APES structures fully comply with BSEN 1176 the playground equipment standard. Our staff are CSCS registered operatives, have relevant safety and first aid training, are CRB checked where appropriate and are fully versed in working with the community safely. APES is fully covered for products liability and our employers liability insurance also covers volunteers. Some staff are NPTC qualified in tree-climbing, felling, aerial rescue and using a chainsaw at height. John O'Driscoll is certified by the Register of Play Inspectors International (RPII) for outdoor operational inspection of play equipment.
