Fox’s Rise of the Planet of the Apes

Beatwax

APES was naturally happy to be commissioned by PR firm Beatwax on behalf of Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment to build a play enclosure by Tower Bridge to mark the launch of Rise of the Planet of the Apes on Blu-ray and DVD. Well, us primates have to stick together, right?

The structure, a 10m hemisphere based on the enclosure from which Caesar the ape escapes in the movie, was built to feature demonstrations and workshops by Erwan Le Corre, founder of  MovNat , and members of  Parkour Generations . In it we installed play equipment, including real oak trees, bamboo platforms, swings and hammocks. The cage was cut into sections, which were then rejoined and erected overnight at the shoot.

The event, which was streamed live around the world, was a huge success. After the show, the equipment was donated to playgrounds around East London. This innovative project represents another string to APES’ bow. Our creative flair, quick thinking, flexibility and design-and-build skills make us perfect for this sort of campaign.

“This was a fun idea and a challenge to turn around so quickly, but the results are great and the shoot was fantastic. We love building playgrounds, it’s our passion, but doing something truly original and high profile is a privilege, too.”
